GranSaga Idle : KNIGHTSxKNIGHTS Developer’s Note
Developer's Mini-Note

Dear Captains,

We’ve been spending time reviewing and contemplating solutions based on the feedback we’ve received since the collaboration update.

Despite many shortcomings, we’ve been deeply encouraged by the return of many Captains for this update and their enthusiastic participation in the events.

We’ve also welcomed a number of new Captains, and we’ll be sharing details about related events through the community soon.

Today, we’d like to discuss our plans for addressing pet balance issues introduced in this update.

Pets were originally planned for the game’s launch but were left out due to various reasons, becoming a source of long-standing challenges for the development team. With this update, featuring the well-loved Kakao Friends collaboration, we hoped that pets would become an integral part of your growth strategy.

However, based on the feedback we’ve received, here are the main concerns:

  • The pet attachment effects are too powerful.
  • There are no alternative options to replace pets.
  • The absence of other ways to offset the strong impact of pets.

Let us explain our design intentions step by step.

Pets were designed with separate attachment and ownership effects in mind.

Since only one pet can be equipped at a time, minor attachment effects made it difficult to feel a noticeable impact.

To address this, we allocated stats in a way that allows pets to provide significant benefits independently, making them more effective compared to other heroes or artifacts.

For example, effects like boss damage are designed to scale based on the growth of basic stats, meaning that the stronger the hero, the greater the benefit.

Because of this, the attachment effects of key pets were intentionally designed to be powerful.

On the other hand, the cumulative ownership effects were carefully balanced to account for other pets.

Through this approach, the pet system was designed to encourage players to steadily collect multiple pets, with ownership effects serving as the core balancing factor. Pets were structured to be consistently obtainable through idle rewards like Origins and in-game content exchanges.

However, since their release in November was somewhat rushed, we were unable to adequately explain these intentions, and some of the planned key pets were unfortunately not included.

To address these issues, we plan to implement the following updates.

(As mentioned in the developer notes, the acquisition rate of Origins will first be increased to approximately three times the current rate starting on the 28th.)

♦︎ Expansion of Methods to Obtain Pets with Damage Stats

  • Pets with damage-related stats (e.g., Boss Damage, Skill Damage, Critical Damage) will be made available through Pet Summon Boxes.
  • These pets will also be obtainable via exchanges in the content shop.

♦︎ Enhancing the Value and Accessibility of Limited Pets

  • Limited pets, such as the Spirit King and Minion, which can be acquired in the World Challenge, will have improved acquisition methods and pacing to allow steady collection.
  • We will continue to preserve the value of limited pets by researching unique stats and effects exclusive to them.

♦︎ Increased Acquisition of Pet Origins

  • As previously mentioned, starting November 28, the acquisition rate of Origins will be increased to approximately three times the current rate.

The continued love for Luin, our first pickup character, and their active role in the World Challenge fills us with pride and reminds us once again of the importance of balance.

We aim to ensure that pets follow this same philosophy, becoming beloved companions that remain cherished by Captains even a year from now.

In addition, we are working on some smaller improvements.

One of these addresses the omission of rewards for repeat quests, which has been a point of regret for us as well.

Since pet summoning uses valuable resources, we plan to provide additional opportunities to earn pets by introducing “Pet Origins [5]” as rewards for repeat quests. Furthermore, for Captains who participated in the Chunshik pet summoning during this collaboration period, we will retroactively grant the additional Origins after the collaboration ends.

Lastly, here’s a sneak peek of a photo secretly taken by GM Delia just for you!

It shows the current progress of the Kakao Friends costume for Dark Seraphim Seriad, which has been receiving lots of anticipation and excitement.

Final touch-ups are underway to ensure the highest quality.

We greatly appreciate your continued interest and support!

Thank you
